Rolled Sugar Cookie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

1 Cup White Sugar

3/4 Cup Butter, Softened

2 Large Eggs

1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

2 1/2 Cups All purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

 

METHOD

  1. Beat sugar and softened butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly dust a work surface with flour. Roll out dough to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
  4. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are lightly browned, 8 to 12 minutes.
  6. Carefully transfer cookies to a wire rack and cool completely before decorating.
